TAMMY CHERRY-HENDERSON
TAMMY CHERRY-HENDERSON is a graduate of Florida State University with a Bachelors degree in Music Education. She has taught for the past eight years at Alexander Elementary School and Junior High-Middle School in Tampa where she has developed one of the most successful and innovative elementary guitar programs in the country. She was voted Teacher of the Year by the Faculty in 1995-96.
Tammy serves on the scholarship selection committee for both the LAURIE ANN RICHARDSON ENDOWED MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP and the CATHY LYNNE RICHARDSON ENDOWED DOCTORAL SCHOLARSHIP for the University of South Florida’s Department of Special Education.
For three years Tammy served on the faculty of the University of Miami’s Annual “Guitar, Bass-Guitar and Drumset” Camp where she also helped direct the “Junior Guitar Camp”.
Tammy has been an adjudicator at several of the Music Education Conventions including the FMEA and the NMEA where she shared her expertise in Elementary and Junior-Middle School Guitar program development.
Recently, Tammy co-authored with Cathy Ellis the new "SPECIAL SUPPLEMENT" , a wonderful book filled with all easy arrangements for Guitar and Bass-Guitar. She also co-authored with Cathy Ellis the new"The Junior-Middle School Edition" and the "Senior High Short-Term Edition" of the Complete Guide for the Guitar Series.
In addition to performing, Tammy also teaches privately..
